Steam is the only download on launch day
You cannot download Over the Hill yet. When it launches on October 14, 2026, the official way to get it on PC is through Steam: buy it on the store page and install it from your Steam library. The PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 versions will download from their own stores when they arrive in 2027.
The free demo that was available in June 2026 has closed. Third-party pages offering an Over the Hill download now are not official Funselektor releases, and unofficial or cracked copies carry a real malware risk.
How to download Over the Hill on PC
Steam is the only confirmed PC store at launch. Until release day the Steam page offers a wishlist button instead of a purchase option.
- Open the Over the Hill page on Steam, from the official website or by searching the Steam store.
- From October 14, 2026, buy the game or the bundle on that page.
- Find it in your Steam library and select Install.
- Keep at least 4 GB of free space, the minimum Steam lists.
Downloading on consoles
The PS5 version will come from the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Series X|S version from the Microsoft Store and the Switch 2 version from Nintendo’s store, all in 2027. PlayStation and Microsoft already have pages you can wishlist; the official site does not link a Nintendo page yet.
GOG, Epic and the Microsoft Store
Funselektor’s FAQ says it is considering GOG and Epic but can only confirm Steam for now. The Microsoft Store listing for the Xbox version also lists PC with an Xbox Play Anywhere label, but that belongs to the 2027 console release and the studio has not explained it.
Why to skip unofficial downloads
Searches for an Over the Hill download turn up software portals, and some players look for “online fix” cracks to play multiplayer without buying. None of these come from Funselektor. Beyond the malware risk, they bypass the small studio that makes the game, and fixes such as the demo’s server browser hotfix were delivered through Steam.
Installing on Steam Deck
On a Steam Deck the process is the same as on a PC: buy the game on Steam and install it from your library. There is no native Linux build, but the official FAQ says Funselektor is committed to making the game run smoothly on the Deck through Proton, which Steam handles automatically.
The demo and playtest builds
The June 2026 demo was a Steam download during Next Fest and closed on June 29. Playtest builds go only to players selected through the Discord sign-up. The FAQ says a demo may return closer to release; if it does, it will appear on the Steam page.
