Funselektor, with Strelka Games as co-developer

Over the Hill is developed by Funselektor, the Vancouver studio behind Absolute Drift and art of rally, together with Strelka Games, a production company based in Trento, Italy. Funselektor Labs Inc. is listed as the publisher on Steam and on the PlayStation Store.

The two studios already worked together on Golden Lap, a 2024 motorsport management game. Over the Hill is their second collaboration and the first Funselektor game with online co-op; its earlier games are single-player on Steam.

Funselektor’s road to Over the Hill

The press kit says Funselektor was founded in 2014, when Dune Casu built the prototype of what became Absolute Drift at a game jam. Absolute Drift came out in 2015, and Casu then turned his passion for rally into art of rally, which launched on September 23, 2020 and later received free content updates and one final DLC. A motorsport management prototype followed and became Golden Lap in 2024, made with Strelka Games.

What Strelka Games brings

Strelka Games describes itself in the press kit as a production company that builds games from scratch and often works with other developers, either leading a project or adapting to a partner’s direction. On Over the Hill it is credited as a developer on Steam, and PCGamingWiki lists it as co-production. The studios have not published a detailed split of who does what.

Where the idea came from

At the January 2025 reveal, The Drive reported that Dune Casu drew inspiration from journeying across North America in his camper van. Funselektor’s release date post adds the design goal: capture the freedom of art of rally’s free roam, add some adventure and a touch of peaceful exploration. The launch regions, Canada and Algeria, show the game reaching beyond North American scenery.

Publishing and store credits

Steam and the PlayStation Store list Funselektor Labs Inc. as the publisher, the Microsoft Store lists Funselektor, and the press kit gives Funselektor in Vancouver. No other publisher is named on the official store pages checked for this guide. The Steam version launches first, on October 14, 2026, and the console versions follow in 2027.

Soundtrack and technology

The soundtrack is by Tatreal and Giacomo Giunchedi, according to Funselektor’s August progress update, and it will be sold separately for $9.99 USD. On the technical side, PCGamingWiki reports that the demo’s executable was built with Unity 6; that is community evidence from a pre-release build rather than an official statement.

How to follow the team

Funselektor posts news on the Steam page and in its Discord server, where playtest sign-ups also appear. In the month before launch the team is running weekly Wednesday Q&A streams on Twitch and Instagram, starting September 16, 2026, and it brought the game to Gamescom’s Indie Arena Booth from August 26 to 30.
